KB93: Feeding inclined presses

Category: Miscellaneous Tips | Updated: 6/12/2007 8:27:10 AM | Owner: The Professor | Read: 2489 (Last: 4/18/2014 5:24:09 AM)

Resolution

Feeding inclined presses with coil stock has always been a bug-a-boo, particularly with wider materials. Resulting twisted stock along with misfeeds and other problems has led many to abandon such a combination. It doesn’t have to be such a problem. Positioning the coil equipment toward the front of the press the same number of degrees as the press is inclined (but still on the horizontal) will leave the material horizontal at the straightener exit, horizontal at the floor and perfectly parallel to the inclined feed and die, with all side stresses removed.
